Pokemon – Mewtwo Returns [VHS] is a direct-to-video sequel to Pokemon: The First Movie. Ash, Misty, and Brock are on an adventure in the Johto region when they must rescue Pikachu from Team Rocket. They track down Pikachu to a hidden plateau where Mewtwo has created a sanctuary for cloned Pokemon. The villainous Giovanni is trying to capture Mewtwo to create an army of bio-engineered Pokemon. With the help of Meowth, Ash and his friends defeat Giovanni in a battle that is intense but not as over-the-top as the original movie. This film offers mild amusement and some valuable lessons in sportsmanship. However, Mewtwo’s brooding and intense action scenes may be too scary for young children. Unrated; recommended for ages 6 and up.
