Known as LEGO SMART Play, this technology allows kids to bring their LEGO creations to life, making their builds responsive to their interactions.
How Does LEGO SMART Play Work?
LEGO SMART Play works through the integration of several key components. Central to this system is the LEGO SMART Brick, a specially designed piece that contains sensors, accelerometers, light sensing technology, a sound sensor, and a miniature speaker. This brick forms the heart of the interactive LEGO SMART Play system.
Complementing the SMART Brick are the LEGO SMART Tags and LEGO SMART Minifigures. These elements pair with the SMART Brick to power the system, transforming ordinary LEGO builds into interactive, responsive creations. This gives young builders the opportunity to see their creations react in real-time to their interactions, enhancing their play experience.
LEGO SMART Play Meets Star Wars
The innovative LEGO SMART Play made its debut with three new LEGO Star Wars sets. This allows Star Wars fans to recreate iconic moments from the series with enhanced interactivity. The new features include Lightsaber sounds, SMART Minifigures of beloved Star Wars characters like Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, the engine roar of the A-wing, and even the “The Imperial March” theme.
Starting from March 1, families can look forward to playing with LEGO Star Wars SMART Play: Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter, LEGO Star Wars SMART Play: Throne Room Duel and A-Wing, and LEGO Star Wars SMART Play: Luke’s Red Five X-Wing building sets.
Preorder and Future Plans
Preorders for the All-in-One Star Wars sets started on January 9. The LEGO Group has also indicated that more LEGO SMART Play sets are on the horizon, expanding the play options for young builders.
