LEGO and Pokémon Team Up for SMART Play Sets
The LEGO Group, a renowned Danish toy production company, and The Pokémon Company International, a subsidiary of the Japan-based Pokémon franchise, are collaborating to take playtime to a new level. Together, they are launching 12 new LEGO Pokémon SMART Play sets, offering a thrilling, interactive experience for young builders and their families. This venture aims to provide a fun, screen-free playtime that pairs the creativity of LEGO with the engaging world of Pokémon.
Interactive Play with LEGO SMART Play Technology
The new collection is powered by LEGO SMART Play technology, which aims to enhance the traditional brick-building experience. This innovative technology enables LEGO Pokémon to interact with the children through light, sound, motion, and sensing. The experience is brought to life by the LEGO SMART Brick – a device that allows children to train, nurture, explore, and even engage in battles with their brick-built Pokémon.
What Does the Collection Include?
The new LEGO Pokémon SMART Play sets feature beloved Pokémon characters such as Pikachu, Charizard, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Eevee, Gengar, Mew, Mewtwo, Umbreon, Garchomp, and many more. The lineup includes a mix of All-in-One and compatible expansion sets, catering to a variety of play preferences.
The launch is spearheaded by two LEGO SMART Play All-in-One sets. The first, the Training House with Pikachu ($69.99), designed for children aged 6 and up, features a Pikachu-inspired treehouse, training items, a Poké Ball, one SMART Brick, four SMART Tags, and a charger. The second, the Charizard vs. Jolteon Ultimate Battle ($119.99), suitable for children aged 8 and up, includes two SMART Bricks, four SMART Tags, a charger, and offers an interactive battle play centered on Charizard and Jolteon.
The collection is further expanded with ten compatible sets ($14.99-89.99) that offer themed play scenarios, such as Trainer’s Buggy Adventure with Squirtle, Jigglypuff Concert, Eevee and Lapras’s Treasure Hunt, and Mewtwo’s Lab Break. These compatible sets include SMART Tags and are designed to work seamlessly with a SMART Brick from an All-in-One set.

Customers who make select purchases will be eligible to receive a gift with their purchase, the LEGO Pokémon SMART Play: Ditto as Squirtle: Movie Night, subject to availability of stock.
The collection is currently available for preorder and is slated to launch on Aug. 1 at LEGO Stores, online, and at select retailers. Adding to the excitement, a selection of LEGO Stores will host LEGO SMART Play demos and Pokémon Go integrations, including PokéStops and Gyms with in-game rewards and branded digital content available from August through September.
