Celebrating 2026 FIFA World Cup: A Journey of Fun and Learning at the Children’s Museum of Manhattan
As the world gears up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Children’s Museum of Manhattan (CMOM) is ensuring that young soccer enthusiasts and their families have the opportunity to join in the fun. With the tournament set to kick off in June, CMOM has planned six weeks of engaging, soccer-themed activities. This celebration is not just about the big game, but also about inspiring children to appreciate teamwork, explore their creativity, and learn about diverse cultures and traditions from around the globe. Tickets for these activities are currently available on CMOM’s website.
Week 1: Crafting, Superheroes, and Traditional Dances
From June 2-7, the museum will be a hub of creativity as children engage in crafting mini soccer fields and team banners. They can also try their hand at designing their own World Cup superhero with guidance from professional comic book artists. The first week concludes with a lively performance by the Calpulli Mexican Dance Company, where families can learn traditional Mexican dances – a beautiful blend of indigenous and world-renowned dances like El jarabe tapatío.
Week 2: Meet the Mascots and Learn Soccer
During June 9-14, the excitement continues as CMOM introduces children to this year’s World Cup mascots through finger puppets, collages, and other interactive activities. The West Side Soccer League will also be hosting soccer drills and indoor match-ups, promising plenty of action for young soccer stars of all skill levels.

Final Countdown: Outdoor Parties, Crafts, and the World Cup Final
Starting July 13, the final countdown to the World Cup kicks off with outdoor water parties, sporty crafts, and a musical performance by jazz vocalist Olivia Chindamo. This all leads up to the World Cup Final on July 19 at the New York New Jersey Stadium. To set the mood before the game, there will be a puppet show featuring Arlo the Awkward Giraffe on a World Cup adventure. This summer of soccer promises to be the perfect blend of fun, learning, and cultural exploration.
All the above-mentioned events are included with the normal admission to CMOM — no separate tickets are required! To get a detailed schedule of events and to book your museum passes, visit cmom.org.
