Mattel Launches New Moana-Inspired Doll Collection
As anticipation builds for the upcoming live-action Moana movie, set to hit theatres on July 10, Mattel is offering a fun way to bring the magic of the film into homes a little earlier. The toy giant is set to release four new dolls inspired by the Disney remake, offering families a chance to introduce island vibes to the playroom this weekend.
The collection, which will be available in stores and online at Target from May 17, includes the Disney’s Moana Fashion Doll, Maui Fashion Doll, Moana Singing Fashion Doll, and Moana Collector Doll. Additional retailers are expected to stock the collection from May 30.
Meet the New Moana Dolls
Designed for children aged three years and up, the new doll collection features the likeness of the live-action movie’s stars, Catherine Laga’aia (Moana) and Dwayne Johnson (Maui). The Moana doll is accessorized with the character’s anklets, a flower hair clip, a necklace, and an orange villager outfit. The Maui Fashion Doll, on the other hand, showcases the live-action character’s tattoos, sharktooth necklace, bracelets, and iconic fishhook.
Another highlight of the collection is the Moana Singing Fashion Doll, which allows kids to sing along to “How Far I’ll Go.” The doll comes with Moana’s oar and Heart of Te Fiti necklace and will play a 30-second clip from the song when the torso button is pressed. Collectors will appreciate the doll’s bare feet, dusted with sand, and the conch shell she carries. This collector doll also comes with a doll stand for easy display.
