Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast Gear Up for International Day of Play
With the International Day of Play just around the corner, toy and board game giants, Hasbro and its subsidiary, Wizards of the Coast, are preparing to celebrate in style. The companies are designing a series of exciting in-store and online events intended to highlight the importance of play in bringing families together.
The International Day of Play, which falls on June 11, is a global event that shines a spotlight on every child’s right to play in a safe, inclusive, and accessible environment. Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast are reinforcing this mission by providing experiences for tabletop players of all ages and skill levels. The companies will host events inspired by two of their most popular board games, Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) and Magic: The Gathering (MTG), at over 10,000 Wizards Play Network retail locations worldwide.
International Day of Play Events: MTG and D&D
Participating stores will provide a smorgasbord of activities for MTG fans. These will range from casual, social format matches to Avengers Academy, a learn-to-play experience inspired by MTG: Marvel Super Heroes. Both new and returning players will have the chance to earn welcome decks and in-store rewards, with bonus incentives for those who bring a friend along. The fun continues online with a phantom event on MTG Arena, complete with limited-time digital surprises.

On the other hand, D&D enthusiasts are in for a treat with a brand-new adventure on D&D Beyond — Borderlands Quest: Dagger Danger. This campaign is perfect for first-timers, featuring pre-made characters, simplified rules, and a clear narrative path. It offers an easy and enjoyable way for new players and Dungeon Masters to get involved in the game. D&D Beyond account holders can participate in this campaign for free on dndbeyond.com.
Hasbro’s Community Involvement on International Day of Play
Beyond the tabletop, Hasbro is also extending the spirit of the International Day of Play to local communities. The company is organizing a series of volunteer-led events, including a family game night with The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp in Rhode Island, which offers free year-round camps for children with serious illnesses. In collaboration with Playworks and the City of Boston, Hasbro will be celebrating classic recess games. Furthermore, hundreds of middle school students in Washington will be introduced to MTG and D&D during a special game day event.
