Celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month with MESH Helps
As May approaches, it’s time to gear up for the annual observance of Mental Health Awareness Month. This year, MESH Helps, a dedicated organization that focuses on Mental, Emotional, and Social Health (MESH) skills, has come up with a unique initiative, “Play for Resilience” to commemorate this important month-long event. MESH Helps is organizing a series of edu-taining events aimed at promoting mental health awareness and resilience among families.
The Play for Resilience Initiative
Recognizing the need to meet families where they are, the Play for Resilience initiative blends mental health awareness with the spaces where communities naturally gather and connect. The planned activities and events encourage families to come together and have fun, while highlighting how everyday play can help kids develop key MESH skills. These skills can have a significant impact on a child’s development, supporting their wellbeing throughout their lifetime.
Kick-Off at Chuck E. Cheese
The Play for Resilience initiative will commence at Chuck E. Cheese locations across the U.S. from May 1 through May 8. Families can take part in a host of new activities, video content, and educational resources that promote coping skills, confidence, communication, and emotional understanding through play. Over 450 Chuck E. Cheese locations are set to participate in this initiative.
Events at Local Libraries
Post the kick-off week, families can visit nearly 300 local libraries to learn more about youth mental health and discover resources and tools that support their kids’ growth. Each library event will feature a range of MESH-Accredited toys and games that families can play together. These include popular games like Rush Hour, Zingo!, and Puzzle Up from Ravensburger; Friends & Neighbors and The How I Survived Game from MindWare; and additional fan-favorites from MAGNA-TILES, Pennycake, Connetix, and Blue Marble.
